None of my Surface Pro devices have any issues at allĪnd I have every generation of them, 1 thru 6, and they all still work perfectly. If you can't depend on an almost $3,000 PC to be reliable for 1 year, and ours haven't been, that's a fail for me.Īnd, meanwhile, since we're using personal anecdotes: We have backups so data loss isn't an issue and as far as serviceability, to each his own but reliability is where the Surface Pro fails. Regarding the warranty, unless you have a Microsoft Store near you (we do not), you have to wait a couple of days for your replacement Surface Pro to arrive when there is a hardware issue. The Surface Pro has several issues that haven't been resolved in years. In a business environment, something even remotely unreliable isn't acceptable. Making things serviceable makes them ugly, thicker, heavier and so on Its a Surface tablet, it has a warranty, if something breaks on the hardware get a new one by getting it replaced under warranty.Įverything is about tradeoffs. Some people don't care about serviceability, I mean who services iPads and that doesn't stop them from being sold. That's actually a stupid blanket position to take IMHO

I assume that using a USB Wifi device is out of the question? As I am pretty sure a good USB 3.0 Wifi adapter will replace the onboard WiFi You are having problems with?

I advise folks to buy Lenovo Yoga units, these are basically the same form factor, but have screws in the bottom and are very serviceable. I actually cut a hole in the back of a SP 3 and replaced the SSD after failure, rather than attempt taking the screen apart to access from the front. If anything goes wrong, outside of warranty, it is junk.

Work real good when they do, and very cool and svelty. I do NOT recommend Surface Pros to my clients.
